Dechesne, F. (Francien)

Research profile

As researcher in the 3TU Centre for Ethics and Technology, Francien Dechesne aims to broaden her research scope from the study of logic and formal methods to their possible application in ethical societal aspects of ICT. She is particularly interested in issues around security and privacy, and more generally the specification of non-functional requirements in technological design. She hopes to contribute methodological and conceptual clarification to the Value Sensitive Design-programme.

Before joining the Philosophy section in Delft, she researched the applicability of (dynamic) epistemic logic in the verification of security protocols (NWO-project VEMPS at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science).
She wrote her PhD-thesis on the topic of logics with semantics in terms of imperfect information games (Universiteit van Tilburg, Department of Philosophy).
She studied foundations of mathematics (especially: intuitionistic mathematics) with a special interest in philosophy (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen).

A list of Francien Dechesne’s publications at Tilburg University and TU Eindhoven is available at her old homepage in Eindhoven. See the Springer website for a current listing of Francien’s Springer publications, and DBLP for all DBLP-listed publications.

Francien Dechesne has served as reviewer for the following workshops, conferences, journals and book publishers (selection): AAMAS 2012, AMPLE 2011 (organizing chair), IJCAI 2011, FAST 2011, WoLLiC 2011, Synthese, Ethics and Information Technology, Logic Journal of the IGPL, Studia Logica, Theoretical Computer Science, Knowledge-Based Systems, Cambridge University Press.
