Pols, A.J.K. (Auke)
Research profile
Auke Pols (1979) is a Ph.D. student in the Philosophy and Ethics section at Eindhoven University of Technology. He studied Cognitive Artificial Intelligence and Philosophy of Cognitive Artificial Intelligence at Utrecht University, where he wrote theses on insight in problem solving (psychology) and why moral systems do not necessarily need categorical imperatives (meta-ethics). His current research project, Acting with artefacts, investigates the question of what an action with an artefact is, and how artefacts influence what actions we perform. For this project Pols has investigated conceptual issues in analytic action theory, as well as issues in affordance-based design, human enhancement and moral responsibility for the use of technical artefacts.
