Central in this research are the questions about the role of technology in military operations in the 21st century. He also is project leader of the research program ‘Moral fitness of military personnel in a networked operational environment’, sponsored by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research. The main contribution in his research is to deal with the ethical and legal dilemmas/problems which have been leveraging by modern military technology.
Courses that he teaches include Ethics and Law, Logic, Ethics and (Military) Technology.  With Ibo van de Poel, he is finishing the textbook Ethics, Engineering and Technology which will be published by Blackwell in 2011.
