Summer school ‘Responsibility & Engineers of the Future’
IDEA-League Summer School, August 20-22, 2009, TU Delft, The Netherlands
In August 2009 the philosophy department of TU Delft organized a summer school for PhD students in engineering from the IDEA League, a network of five leading European universities of technology and science. In an intensive 3-day program, PhD students were introduced to the ethics of technology and could develop their skills of ethical reasoning. Special attention was paid to the issue of responsibility. Participants in the summer school could participate for free to the conference on this topic that was organized in Delft subsequently.
Within the activities of 3TU Center for Ethics and Technology, the Department of Philosphy of Delft University will repeat the succesful experience of the Summer School next year.
