Information meeting MA program Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society
Information activity about this M.Sc. program. Start: 6.15 p.m. Location: Vrijhof, campus University of Twente (map of the campus)
Can we anticipate the future implications of nanotechnology in society? How do information technologies affect our privacy? Are there ethical limits to genetic fiddling with animals and human beings? How do new devices help to change our behavior and our perceptions of the world? Questions like these are explored in the Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society Master of Science program. We cordially invite you for the PSTS Master information evening on 27 November. You can register for this evening by sending an email to Nienke Nijenhuis: . Please do not hesitate to mail or call us (+31 (0)53-489 35 89) for further information about the master PSTS or the information evening.
The two-year Master of Science program PSTS is a unique international program which aims to understand and evaluate the meaning of science and technology in today’s world.
As from February 2009, students with a bachelor degree in philosophy are also welcomed in the programme, in addition to the already existing group of bachelors in engineering or the natural sciences. Students with a bachelor in philosophy who have relevant working experience, or who have followed and passed a substantial amount of courses in science or technology, can start in February to do an 18-month programme. For bachelors in philosophy without this technological background we intend to offer a premaster in technology, starting the next academic year. It goes without saying that this change does not have any implications for students with a bachelor in one of the (engineering) sciences: they continue to be welcome as usual.
