Vacancy assistant professor Ethics & Technology
The Philosophy Department of Delft University of Technology, which is one of three participants in 3TU.Ethics, is looking for an assistant professor Ethics & Technology. The Assistant Professor is expected to teach (introductory) courses in ethics and engineering for engineering students, predominantly at the Master’s level, and to perform research in the field of ethical issues relating to engineering and technology. Half of the time will be devoted to teaching and half to research. Application is possible until February 12th, 2008.

Extended deadline: Ethics, Technology & Identity

NVBe prize on bioethics for member 3TU.Ethics
Mark Coeckelbergh, member of the 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology, has – together with Jessica Mesman from the University of Maastricht – received the NVBe prize 2007 from the Dutch Association for Bioethics (NVBe). The prize was awarded for their article on moral imagination and neonatal care (Coeckelbergh & Mesman 2007, published in Ethical Theory & Moral Practice). The prize consists of €1500 and has been awarded to the winners on the annual member meeting of the NVBe that took place on November 8, 2007.

Vacancy PhD molecular diagnostics / ethical TA

Vidi-grant ‘limits of humanity’ awarded by NWO
Dr.ir. P.P.C.C (Peter-Paul) Verbeek, member of the 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology, has been awarded with a Vidi-grant from NWO (the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research). Title of his project is ‘Technology and the limits of humanity: the ethics and anthropology of posthumanism’.
