The 3TU.Ethics / IDEA League Summer School welcomes applications
This year 3TU.Ethics / IDEA League Summer School is titled ‘Responsible Engineering in a Warming World’. Professor Jeroen van den Hoven, Scientfic Director of 3TU.Ethics, will chair the school which will take place between 9:00 on Monday 21 June 2010 and approximately 17:00 on Saturday 26 June 2010. A mandatory part of the summer school is participation in the conference Ethics, Energy and the Future. PhD students from the five IDEA universities can fill out the application form at the page dedicated to the summer school, where all further information is also provided.

The NAMUR Award 2009: Jeroen van Hoven receives the price in Belgium
As announced earlier on this website, Jeroen van den Hoven is the winner of the 2009 edition of the NAMUR Award, which he received during a ceremony hold in January 2010 at Namur, in Belgium.

Conference “Ethics, Energy and the Future”: extended deadline for abstracts submission
The deadline for submiting your abstract to the international conference ”Ethics, Energy & the Future: Technology for a Sustainable Society”, which will be held in Delft from June 24th to June 26th, is extended until March 15th.

The new KIVI-NIRIA / 3TU.Ethics Lectures Series is about to start
Starting from March 3, the Philosophy and Technology section of KIVI-NIRIA (the Dutch Association for Engineers) will host 3TU.Ethics PhD students within a newly designed lectures series, titled De verwevenheid van ethiek en technologie (English: “the close interaction between ethics and technology").

The 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology, in cooperation with the Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society (PSTS) Master Programme of the University of Twente, welcomes applications for the PhD Programme in Ethics of Technology.
Application deadline for both EU and non-EU candidates is April 30, 2010.

Sabine Roeser was awarded a VIDI grant for her project on Moral Emotions & Risk Politics
Sabine Roeser, Managing Director of 3TU.Ethics and Assistant Professor at the Philosophy Section of Delft University, was awarded the prestigious VIDI grant of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research NWO for her project on Moral Emotions & Risk Politics. NWO presented the outcomes of the Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Innoveren (MVI) Programme
On November 18, at the Nemo Science Centre in Amsterdam, NWO presented the outcomes of the program Socially Responsible Innovation (Dutch: Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Innoveren) in front of an international audience of scientists working on topics ranging from human enhancement to ethical issues in healthcare technologies.

Peter-Paul Verbeek is appointed as extraordinary Socrates professor in Human Enhancement (0,2 fte) at the Philosophy Deprtment of Delft University of Technology.
Professor Verbeel is also a professor of philosophy of technology at the Department of Philosophy, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, and director of the international master program Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society
