FP7 grant for Ibo van de Poel
Together with consortium partners Ibo van de Poel, managing director of 3TU.Ethics and associate professor at the Philosophy Department of TU Delft, has received a research grant from the FP7 programme of the European Union. Title of the project is “Ethical and regulatory issues raised by synthetic biology” (SYNTH-ETHICS). The project has a total size of 531.000 euro, of which a part will go to the Philosophy Department in Delft. The researcher from 3TU.Ethics that will contribute to the execution of the research is David Koepsell.

Peter-Paul Verbeek appointed as full professor
As of January 1st, 2009 Peter-Paul Verbeek (1970) has been appointed as professor in the Philosophy of Humans and Technology at the University of Twente. Previously, Peter-Paul Verbeek was working as associate professor at this same university. He is a senior research fellow of 3TU.Ethics. Verbeek’s research focuses on the social and cultural roles of technology and the ethical and anthropological aspects of human-technology relations.

FP7 grant for Jeroen van den Hoven & partners
Together with consortium partners Jeroen van den Hoven, scientific director of 3TU.Ethics and full professor at the Philosophy Department of TU Delft, has received a research grant from the FP7 programme of the European Union. Title of the project is “Ethical Issues of Emerging ICT Applications” (ETICA). The project has a total size of 834.000 euro, of which 71.000 euro will go to Van den Hoven. It will be spend on a postdoc position.
